But just barely. An unnecessary remake of Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s gloomy, quietly sinister “Kairo” (2001) in which a teen suicide communicates electronically with his surviving friends, co-written by Wes Craven and directed by Jim Sonzero, with contributions from several hands responsible for other Dimension/Weinsteinco product, “Pulse” has hardly a worthy moment in its entire eighty-seven-minute duration. Blue-gray like ash and prune, it’s boring looking to boot. With Kristin Bell, Ian Somerhalder, Rick Gonzalez, Zach Grenier, Samm Levine, Ron Rifkin and a bonkeroo Brad Dourif. See Kurosawa’s original, or better yet, his movies like “Cure,” “Séance” and “Charisma,” all on DVD. 87m. (Ray Pride)
