On exceedingly modest means, brothers Benjamin Cummings and Orson Cummings wreak a mild modern noir in the moneyed Hamptons. The winter-set “If I Didn’t Care” is filled with cheaters and potential killers and generally ripening-to-rot if not outright bad apples, including Bill Sage, Roy Scheider (as a police investigator who’s aged like fine leather), Susan Misner, Noelle Beck and Ronald Gutman. There’s a lightly Chabrolesque air to the often vague post-“Double Indemnity” goings-on but it’s the piquant moments from Sage and Scheider that move things to the end of the brief running time. The Cummings are from the Hamptons, which seems to be the convenient reason the film is set there. 75m. 35mm. (Ray Pride) Facets fri, Mon-thu 7, 9, sat-sun, 3, 5, 7, 9
