Oy! Actress-writer Jennifer Westfeldt follows up “Kissing Jessica Stein” With “Ira and Abby,” a predictable comedy that aims awkwardly for the solar plexus in this specialty item, the story of two neurotics who fall in love. Ira (Chris Messina) is 33 and has a crisis after being discharged by his therapist of a dozen years: enter health club worker Abby (Westfeldt). As directed by Robert Cary, the succession of Manhattan jokes and therapist jokes outweigh occasional bursts of lightness. It’s not a navel most of us will want to spent time cocooned within. The cast includes Robert Klein, Judith Light, Frances Conroy, Fred Willard. 105m. (Ray Pride)
