(Combien tu m’aimes?, 2005) Much of Bertrand Blier’s output over the past fifteen or so years has devolved from the misanthropic acid of a classic like “Going Places” (1974) into an older man’s wishful-thinking misogyny. In “How Much Do You Love Me?” Bernard Campan plays a dowdy office worker who grows obsessed with seldom-dressed prostitute Monica Belucci and tells her he’s won the lottery but also has a bad heart; Gerard Depardieu soon ensues as her husband-cum-pimp.
