Taylor Neary’s 2005 doc, “Liquid Vinyl” (which debuted at Slamdance that year), is a diverting, better-than-to-be-expected survey of “superstar” contemporary DJs, tracing the history of culture and technology of electronic dance music, featuring figures such as Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, “Little” Louie Vega, Carl Cox, Goldie, Jason Bentley, Lady Bunny, Susan Morabito, D:Fuse, Satoshi Tomiie and Victor Calderone. The list suggests the film’s strength and deepest flaw: a short attention span. 84m. BetaSP video. (Ray Pride)
