Chicago filmmaker Keith Dukavicius’ portrait of the life of the artist is a low-budget surprise; composed and theatrical in a fashion to forgive indifferent line readings and sub-par sound: image, especially the contortions of Dukavicius’ form into the familiar image of the artist and with deadly accurate hair that could qualify as a special effect in its own right. Interiors and furnishings that resemble that of the Chicago apartment of a student in the 1980s don’t detract either: this is a small, stylized, unified piece of work. 90m. (Ray Pride)
