Flesh Flick
“On the Internet you can get these custom pornography films made,” explains John Lee, one fourth of the Brooklyn art collective PFFR. “So we wrote a Buñuel-inspired psychosexual drama that has no sex involved.” The result, “Final Flesh,” will have its Midwest premiere at the Lakeshore Theater on July 31 as part of “PFFR: Legacy III,” subtitled “A Posthumorous Sextrospective of Films Old and New.” Proceeds from the film festival will benefit South Towards Home, a nonprofit helping New Orleans recover from Hurricane Katrina. Films shown will include a collaboration with Ben Jones of Paper Rad as well as selections from PFFR’s latest television series, “Xavier: Renegade Angel,” which returns to Adult Swim this fall. In addition to making films and TV shows, PFFR is also an electro-rock band. Is there any industry the jack-of-all-trades collective won’t try? “We’re opening up an auto body shop,” Lee jokes. “A lot of art collectives have gone into manual labor. They always talk about working for the people, none of them do plumbing like we do.”
