Review: Allah Made Me Funny

First problem? The title. A film’s title needs a hint of truth or a scent of poetry, and “Allah Made Me Funny” isn’t really mirthful. The three comedians on show in Andrea Kalin’s film, Mohammed “Mo” Amer, Bryant “Preacher” Moss and Azhar Usman, play to an enthusiastic audience at a small D.C. comedy club that could only have been paid or stoked on extremely strong tea. It’s terrific they’re working with this material. What’s sad is what’s done with it. 83m. (Ray Pride)
