Jon Siskel, filmmaker and co-director of documentary “Louder than a Bomb,” is linking poetry with sports. He and partner Greg Jacobs of Siskel/Jacobs Productions have organized the Poetic Justice Campaign to raise funds for their film project, using Chicago-based Web site thepoint.com as courier. However, the pledges will only be accepted if the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. The documentary follows four local high-school poetry teams as they prepare for and compete in Chicago’s Louder than a Bomb poetry slam, the world’s largest of its kind. The film is the “celebration of diversity and talents of young Chicagoans and their voices.” Siskel says. “It’s a Chicago film.” Although the film project and the Cubs’ playoff campaign do not relate, “It’s a personal thing,” Siskel admits. “If we didn’t believe so strongly in the Cubs, we wouldn’t do this. If the Cubs win it all, this is just one more way of celebrating.”
