More Asian extreme, “Tokyo Gore Police,” directed by Yoshihiro Nishimura, is violent, apocalyptic, inspired and drenchingly derivative, with echoes of J-horror predecessors but also Takashi Miike (“Audition”), Shinya Tsukamoto (“Tokyo Fist”) and Western body-horror warriors like Cronenberg and Verhoeven. Anyone with a fear of street-corner executioners at the end of society or sadism taken as currency of the realm ought to stay far away. It’s weird beyond catalogue even before the emasculated man fashions his freshly bitten-off penis into a gun to battle the evil forces of the police. Of this sort of drenching, wrenching Japanese mayhem and madness, this may well be some kind of brain-throttling masterpiece. (Ray Pride)
