Two television mainstays, John Ratzenberger (“Cheers”) and Shelly Cole (“Gilmore Girls”) team up for Chris Ford’s modest Reno-set debut indie, “The Village Barbershop,” to pleasing result, with some of the same understated charms of a movie like Adrienne Shelly’s “Waitress,” Arthur (Ratzenberger) is a barber with a recently deceased business partner whose woes lead to hiring younger, pregnant, energetic hairdresser Gloria (Cole) to keep the shop afloat. Predictable, but with two unpredictably charming leads, advertising copywriter-turned director Ford finds the nice moments. 99m. Ford will appear after Friday’s screenings. (Ray Pride)
